What Are Sinuses?

Sinuses are air-filled spaces or cavities within the skull that are lined with mucous membranes³.

The tiny hairs (cilia) in the sinuses make sure mucis gets dispelled³. But an increase in mucus production due to viral, bacteria or fungal infections can block the sinuses³, which leads to sinusitis.
